The day Seraphina got sick

I started the day a bit hesitating because I wasn’t sure how baby girl was feeling.
On the one hand, I know she NEEDS the training, but I also didn’t want her to develop a bad emotion about training just because she’s not feeling good enough, so I had a really bad conflict about it.
I told my self “just try” and I did.
First with the toy, I tried to be normal but felt she is a bit more tired than usual so I changed and wanted to make the session a bit more calm. I didn’t move so much and basically set there, let her chase the ball a bit and come back to the sofa where I was sitting. I thought it an opportunity to work the coffee session for retrieval so I was OK with it ☺️
Then with the food, it was also clear to me that she is not 100% with me, but still, I owe her to do something if I don’t want her to go crazy.
I started from some follow up exercise with many releases and even though I knew she is not at her best I was really pleased to see how much she wants and enjoys to work with me. She did get distracted a bit more than usual but for me it makes sense so I didn’t mind it that much.
I tried to do only easy stuff with many rewards and releases and overall I was over the moon with how she did but still could not shake the feeling that something is off in how she feels, so I decided to to stop before actually finishing the food of that session and let her rest again.
I then left to give some classes and when I came back home I tried to work with her again with the toy to see if something has changed.
She was mostly the same with the energy but a bit less focused than usual so I finished with the toy quite quickly and changed to food.
I wanted to try only with some freeze dried chicken bites because I thought her energy could have a connection with her stomach, I was definitely right in my feeling because later that day she had some diarrhea 😭
The session however was a super good one!
We worked on ignoring things on the ground. Normally I would wait longer with teaching that but I also know she is a really oral dog and loves to pick up things so if I want to keep her safe and healthy this is defiantly a skill that I should develop for her ASAP!
I called my vet once I saw the diarrhea and I was told not to give her to eat anything besides white rise for a few more hours and see if something changes.
At night, she was better but still I kept the “rice diet” until the next day.
