Game On

This day was all about the toy.

When I started training dogs a bit over 8 years ago I really didn’t understand how big of an impact the GAME could have on the relationship with our dogs, but now, a few years and a few dogs later -

I can honestly say that the matter of playing with my dogs is a top priority for me so when I realized that Seraphina looks at playing together a bit differently than what I expected I had to change my state of mind and find the way that will work for us as a team.

My main goals with her in playing at this point are:

  1. stronger bite

  2. retrieval for the tug

As you can see, I am slowly getting from her a longer distance of running towards me with the toy but still, it is very easy for her to change to social rewarding mode and drop the toy to come for one-on-one fun.

As it is not possible to skip all of the work with the food, I decided to do a short training for some luring moves and platform training followed by playing together. normally I prefer to work with the toy first and then change for the food, but another point I want to make stronger with her is to be able to change from food to toy, because the other way around is super easy for her ☺️

We finished the day with some time with the pack where I rewarded her for attention and showed her that even when all the crazy gang is out there we can still work together and enjoy our time!

She did great!!!!
